Centre for Research and Innovation (CRI), publisher of the Asian Journal of Computer Science and Technology (AJCST), recognises the importance of protecting personal information used in the journal website, editorial management system, correspondence, publishing workflows and related services. This AJCST Privacy Policy explains what information may be collected, why it may be used, how it may be protected or shared, how confidential editorial records are handled, and how individuals may contact CRI about their information.

1. Information We May Collect

Information may be collected when a person visits the journal website, creates an account, submits or reviews a manuscript, performs editorial duties, completes a form, subscribes to updates, makes a payment or communicates with AJCST or CRI.

  • Contact and profile information such as name, salutation, email address, telephone number, postal address, affiliation, country and related details.
  • Research interests, areas of expertise, ORCID or other researcher identifiers where voluntarily supplied.
  • Submission metadata and files, including manuscript title, abstract, keywords, author information, suggested reviewers and conflict-of-interest declarations.
  • Peer-review and editorial information such as reviewer reports, editorial correspondence, decisions and workflow records.
  • Billing and transaction information needed to administer payments; payment-card details may be handled directly by external payment providers rather than retained by CRI.
  • Technical, account, access, session and cookie-related information reasonably generated through use of the website or publishing platform.

2. Purposes for Using Personal Information

Personal information may be used for legitimate journal and publishing operations, including account administration; manuscript submission and peer review; editorial assessment; production and publication; archiving and preservation; communication with authors, reviewers, editors and readers; invoicing and payments; DOI registration and metadata distribution; publication-ethics and security records; legitimate journal updates; and compliance with applicable legal or regulatory requirements.

Targeted journal communications should follow the AJCST Direct Marketing Policy, and editorial use of personal information should be consistent with the Peer Review Process.

3. Storage and Security

CRI uses reasonable administrative and technical measures intended to reduce the risk of accidental loss, unauthorised access, alteration, deletion or disclosure. Access to protected information should be limited to people who need it for legitimate editorial, publishing, technical, financial or administrative functions.

No internet transmission or electronic storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Users should protect account credentials and notify the journal if they suspect unauthorised access.

4. Sharing and Disclosure

Personal information is not sold or traded as a commercial contact list. Information may be shared where reasonably necessary for manuscript handling, publication, DOI registration, indexing and discovery, digital preservation, payment processing, hosting or technical support, and other legitimate scholarly-publishing services. Information may also be disclosed where required by law or where necessary to address serious research-integrity, security or legal concerns.

5. Confidential Manuscripts and Peer Review

Submitted manuscripts, reviewer identities where protected by the review model, reviewer reports, editorial correspondence and unpublished research information are treated as confidential and should be shared only with authorised people or service providers involved in legitimate editorial or publishing functions. The AJCST peer review process and Publication Ethics statement provide related confidentiality and integrity requirements.

6. Cookies and Website Functionality

The AJCST website or editorial platform may use cookies or similar technologies for account access, security, session management, website operation and user experience. If AJCST publishes a separate cookie notice, that notice should explain cookie categories and controls in greater detail.

7. External Services and Links

The journal website may link to or interact with external services used for DOI registration, indexing, payment processing, digital preservation, analytics or other scholarly infrastructure. Independent services operate under their own privacy notices and terms. Users should review those notices when they interact directly with an external provider.

8. Children

AJCST does not knowingly seek personal information from children for journal publishing services. Where a minor’s use of a service requires consent or supervision under applicable rules, the required parent or legal-guardian involvement should be obtained.

9. Data Retention

Personal information and publishing records are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for journal operations and legitimate scholarly-record, contractual, financial, research-integrity, security, preservation or legal requirements. Retention periods may differ by data category. Some editorial and peer-review records may need to be retained longer to document decisions and protect the integrity of the scholarly record.

10. Requests Concerning Personal Information

Subject to applicable law and legitimate scholarly-record requirements, individuals may contact CRI to request correction of inaccurate personal information or ask about access, restriction or deletion of certain information. A request may not be fulfilled where retention is necessary to preserve the scholarly record, meet legal or accounting obligations, resolve disputes, maintain security or address research-integrity concerns.

11. Changes to this Policy

CRI may update this Privacy Policy when publishing practices, systems, services or applicable requirements change. The current version should remain publicly available on the AJCST website, and material changes should be reflected consistently in account, submission and communication workflows where relevant.
