The Asian Journal of Computer Science and Technology (AJCST), published by the Centre for Research and Innovation (CRI), follows a Gold Open Access publishing model. This AJCST copyright and licensing policy explains copyright ownership in the published Version of Record, the Creative Commons licence applied to published articles, author reuse and repository rights, third-party permissions, and the copyright and licence information that should accompany AJCST articles.

After a manuscript is accepted for publication in AJCST, the author(s), or another lawful copyright holder where applicable, must complete the AJCST Author Declaration and Copyright Transfer Agreement. Under the current AJCST publishing arrangement, copyright in the published Version of Record is transferred to the Centre for Research and Innovation (CRI) when the article is published.

Following that transfer, CRI holds copyright in the published Version of Record and may publish, reproduce, distribute, archive, preserve, index, disseminate, license and protect the article in accordance with AJCST policies. Authors should also review the Author Guidelines before submission.

2. Open Access Licence

AJCST makes published articles immediately and permanently available online under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International licence (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0). This licensing approach operates together with the journal’s Open Access Policy.

Under CC BY-NC-ND 4.0, users may copy and redistribute the unchanged published article in any medium or format for non-commercial purposes, provided appropriate attribution is given and the original AJCST publication is acknowledged.

The licence does not allow commercial reuse or distribution of modified, adapted, translated, remixed, transformed or derivative versions of the published work without additional permission from the copyright holder. The official Creative Commons licence page should be used as the authoritative description of the licence terms.

The article landing page and the published PDF should display a clear copyright and licence notice. For articles published in 2026, AJCST currently uses the following form:

For articles published after 2026, the copyright year should match the actual year of publication. The same copyright holder and licence information should be represented consistently on the article webpage, PDF and machine-readable metadata where technically supported.

4. Author Rights and Scholarly Reuse

Authors retain the scholarly reuse and repository rights expressly allowed by AJCST policies. In accordance with the repository provisions in the AJCST Open Access Policy, authors may deposit the submitted manuscript, accepted manuscript and published Version of Record in appropriate institutional, subject or scholarly repositories without an embargo.

When the published Version of Record is deposited or shared, the following conditions should be maintained:

  • The published article remains unchanged.
  • The complete bibliographic citation and DOI or permanent article link are provided.
  • The CRI copyright notice remains with the article.
  • The CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 licence is clearly identified and linked to the official licence.
  • AJCST and CRI are acknowledged as the original journal and publisher.

5. Version of Record Sharing

Authors and readers may share the published Version of Record for non-commercial purposes in accordance with CC BY-NC-ND 4.0. The Version of Record should not be altered, adapted, translated or otherwise modified for redistribution unless additional permission has been obtained from the copyright holder.

Where a DOI has been assigned, authors are encouraged to use the DOI or permanent AJCST article URL when sharing the Version of Record so that readers can reach the authoritative publication record.

6. Third-Party Material and Permissions

Authors are responsible for ensuring that manuscript content is original or used with appropriate permission. Copyrighted figures, tables, photographs, substantial extracts or other third-party material must be properly acknowledged and, where required, supported by written permission before publication. This responsibility also forms part of AJCST’s Publication Ethics & Publication Malpractice Statement.

Third-party material that is not covered by the article’s Creative Commons licence should be identified clearly through an appropriate credit line or rights statement. Anyone seeking to reuse excluded material must obtain permission from the relevant rights holder when required.

7. Author Declaration

The corresponding author, when authorised by all co-authors, confirms through the AJCST Copyright Form that the manuscript is original, all authors have approved the submission and final version, required permissions have been obtained, relevant conflicts and funding have been disclosed, applicable ethical requirements have been met, and the signatory is authorised to enter into the copyright agreement where applicable.

8. Digital Preservation and Archiving

AJCST supports continued access to its published content through digital preservation arrangements, including the PKP Preservation Network. Copyright and licensing information should remain associated with preserved and archived copies of the Version of Record.

Repository rights are currently stated within the Open Access Policy. If AJCST later publishes a standalone Repository Policy page, the link on this Copyright & Licensing Policy should be updated to that dedicated page.
